Job Description and Requirements:
  • The Monmouth County Department of Information Technology Services is seeking applicants for the position of Geographic Information Systems Specialist 1/Supervisor. Candidates for this supervisory level position are expected to be technically skilled in GIS to manage the entirety of the County's Geographic Information Systems environment.

    Proficiency in ESRI Enterprise GIS system including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online and ArcPro desktop software is essential as this position oversees all enterprise GIS operations including system administration, program governance, system architecture, database management data structure, GIS software selection and implementation, user support. In addition to technical know-how, this position manages a team of GIS specialists and is responsible for supervising personnel, assigning tasks, coordinating resources, and overseeing project completion.

    The candidate being sought will be a highly organized, detailed, self-starter whose skillset includes project prioritization and management, technical problem solving, procedural guidance and project scope preparation, budgeting and personnel management experience, successfully cultivating relationships with other County departments, state and federal agencies, and external consultants, and the ability to communicate complex technical information in non-technical manner and excellent oral and written communication.

    Requirements:
    -Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.
    -Minimum of five years of experience with geographic information systems including computer graphics and computer hardware digitizing procedures.
    -Three to five years of supervisory experience.
    -GISP certification preferred.
