Job Description and Requirements:
  • PURPOSE:

    Responsible for overseeing all activities related to the County’s data and security infrastructure.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    GENERAL:

    • Meet with the IT Manager, provide updates and seek direction on a regular basis.
    • Work effectively with clients, users and senior managers.
    • Promote and maintain a team environment.
    • Participate in projects related to responsibilities; may serve as a technical project lead on occasions.
    • Recognize problems, develop recommendations and solutions and oversee correction within assigned specialty.
    • Liaise between end users and network administration staff to maximize network/systems utilization.
    • Oversee the configuration and management of the IT infrastructure to support requirements in areas such as data retention, security, business continuity, disaster recovery planning/testing and information risk management.
    • Must be able to lift equipment that can weigh 50 pounds or more in tight spaces with one or two persons.

    SECURITY:

    • Identify security risks and coordinate their remediation.
    • Manage responses to security incidents.
    • Work with various IT functional groups to ensure end-to-end system security in regards to data exchange between systems both internal and external
    • Research emerging security technologies for their application in the agency’s computing environment.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING:

    • Four or more years’ experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting Windows Server 2012 or greater
    • Two or more years’ experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting Windows Active Directory with 1,000 plus users
    • Experience with patch management of servers, network devices and desktops
    • Knowledge and understanding of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc…

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with web servers including Apache, Tomcat and IIS is preferred
    • Experience with backup solutions like Avamar, DataDomain or Commvault
    • Experience managing Enterprise based email systems such as Exchange
    • Experience with monitoring tools such as ‘What’s up Gold”
    • Experience managing malware and antivirus solutions in the enterprise
    • Experience with virtualization technology such as VMware, VirtualBox or HyperV
    • Experience with PowerShell scripting in particular task automation
    • Experience with Load Balancers such as Kemp, F5
    • Experience with NAS/SAN Devices such as Dell/EMC VNX, Unity, Isilon
    • Experience with rack based server hardware from Dell, HP, etc…
    • Experience with managing Linux servers

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
